Facebook Page Banned In Pakistan for Blasphemous Activities [updated]

Blasphemous Facebook page has been banned in Pakistan, as the page was directly targeting Muslim's Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H). Muslims all over the world reported the page but no action has been so far taken up against the issue. The blasphemous page encouraged its members to "draw" Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) on the 20th May 2010, which is totally unacceptable by the Muslim community as its a great sin to do so.


So, in response the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom Pakistan has directed PTA to ban Facebook Page in Pakistan. As per now the action has been taken and most of the ISPs in Pakistan have blocked the under discussion Facebook Page. However, there are certain ISPs that are still allowing it to be opened, but according to reports they will shut down it too any time soon.

There were thousand of reports that Muslims all over the world made against the page, but Facebook didn't take any action on it. Its interesting to note that the page violates Facebook's own TOS. Muslims to show unity against this cause also changed there display pictures (seen on right).

It is however in popular public demand that not only the Facebook Page should be blocked  but Facebook should be totally banned in Pakistan. Lets see how the Facebook administration reacts to all this.

UPDATE: Facebook.com has been banned in Pakistan till the 31st June,2010.
