Send Automated Mails Using Your Email Provider

Using an email is a tricky business as many may consider it just a way to communicate, there are a lot of ways which allow you to use your email much more effectively and give you a new way to interact with people. Today where are going to discuss and elaborate a little on the feature is provided mainly by all email providers, but a few know about it. The feature is called "Vacation Responder".

This feature can be used for a lot of purposes, don't let the word "vacation" ruin what you have in mind as it can be used even if you are not in a vacation. This facility is provided almost by all email service providers but lately Hotmail disabled it for some reasons.

So let us see how you can enable these options in the other two major email providers Gmail (by Google) and Yahoo Mail. The method to use it is pretty much the same and very easy too.

GMail.com is certainly one of the best email providers. Giving you an initial space of 7491 MB  there is an option to upgrade the storage according to your needs.

Coming back again to the topic, here is what needs to be done to enable the "vacation responder" for GMail.

Sign in to your GMail account -> Settings ->General

Now see below there will be an option "vacation responder"

When you get here, simply enable it and write the subject and message of the 'automated email' which will be sent to people who are sending you emails.

Yahoo has been one of the oldest and effective email provider, good old days when Hotmail and Yahoo where the only email services providers !. Yahoo has survived over the years a lot of competition and has given its users so much.

Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account -> Options -> Mail Options

Here on the left bar you can see "vacation response", click on that and you would see something like this.

This is what Yahoo provides, it gives you the option of date ( from - up until) for the vacation time period. Simply check in the dates and write the message for the automated mail.

If you are using any other email provider then go and check the options, there would be an option of "vacation response" there as well hopefully.

Effective Uses:
  • Send automated greeting messages for your website subscriber.
  • Use it for the promotion of a value added service provided by you or your company for a limited time duration.
  • Send an automated FAQ or response set.
  • Inform people of your arrival date or just tell them when you would be able to reply them back

There could be other many uses which you can find out according to your needs.
